The first visit will involve your dentist making impressions of your tooth and sending them to a lab so the inlays and onlays can be custom made for you. These can be made of porcelain, gold, or composite resin.
While you wait for your inlay or onlay to be made, you will be given a temporary one to wear between visits. Your second visit will involve your dentist removing your temporary inlay or onlay and placing the new one onto the tooth. Once your dentist has found the proper fit, it is polished and shined.
