Dental Inlays and Onlays in Jonesboro, AR
We offer dental inlays and onlays in Jonesboro, Arkansas, to give you the aesthetic change you want along with full functionality.
Dr. Langston and Dr. Wagner are happy to give their patients this option because it is a great alternative to dental crowns. Inlays are meant to fix and restore the inner grooves and crevices of a tooth while an onlay repairs the inner grooves and also the outer layer of the tooth. These are wonderful products that have a superior fit, protect weak teeth, display a natural tooth color, are easy to clean, and are strong and stable.
Contact UsThe method of installing your inlay and onlay usually involves two trips to Wagner & Langston Family Dentistry. The first visit will involve your dentist making impressions of your tooth and sending them to a lab so the inlays and onlays can be custom made for you. These can be made of porcelain, gold, or composite resin.
While you wait for your inlay or onlay to be made, you will be given a temporary one to wear between visits. Your second visit will involve your dentist removing your temporary inlay or onlay and placing the new one onto the tooth. Once your dentist has found the proper fit, it is polished and shined.

Contact UsWhat are the benefits of inlays and onlays?
Inlays and onlays are durable restorations used to repair teeth with moderate damage or decay while preserving more of the natural tooth structure than a dental crown. Because they are custom-made, they provide a precise fit that helps strengthen the tooth and restore normal function. Inlays and onlays are also highly resistant to wear and can withstand everyday chewing forces, making them a long-lasting solution for many patients.
What’s the difference between inlays and onlays, fillings, and dental crowns?
Fillings are typically used for smaller areas of decay and are placed directly into the tooth during a single visit. Inlays and onlays are custom-crafted restorations designed for larger areas of damage that are too extensive for a filling but do not require a full crown. A dental crown covers the entire visible portion of the tooth, while an inlay fits within the tooth’s cusps and an onlay extends over one or more cusps.
How long do dental inlays last?
Dental inlays can last 10 to 20 years or longer when properly cared for. Their lifespan depends on factors such as oral hygiene habits, diet, and whether the patient grinds or clenches their teeth. Regular dental checkups allow us to monitor the condition of the restoration and address any concerns early. With routine brushing, flossing, and preventive care, many patients enjoy the benefits of their inlays for many years.
Are inlays and onlays natural-looking?
Modern inlays and onlays are often made from tooth-colored materials such as porcelain, allowing them to blend seamlessly with the surrounding enamel. They are custom-shaded to match the color of your natural teeth, creating a restoration that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Because they are designed specifically for your tooth, inlays and onlays provide a smooth, natural appearance that most people will never notice.
