Your Guide to Soothing Your Teething Baby

November 20, 2015 4:47 am
If your baby is struggling through the teething stage, which most babies do, we are here to help you! We understand that it’s hard as parents to sit by and watch your child suffer. So, to help you provide relief and comfort for your child, we recommend doing the following things: • Rub your baby’s gums with your clean finger. This will massage your baby’s gums and will help them less tender. • Have your baby suck on a small, chilled spoon. This will help ice the gums and calm the pain, just like icing a sore muscle would. • Give your child a clean teething ring to chew on. This ring will help your baby strengthen their gums as well as help them grow into their future smile. When your child is growing into their smile, the teeth are erupting through the gums, which can be an extremely painful and uncomfortable experience. So, it’s normal for your baby to be fussy, restless, and irritable. Your baby might even refuse to eat or drink during this stage. These symptoms are completely normal, but make sure your child continues to eat. Generally, the bottom teeth grow in first and then the upper teeth grow in about 1-2 months later. By the time your child is 3 years old, they should have a full set of teeth. If you have any questions or if you would like to know more about the teething process, please feel free to give our office a call and talk to a member of our caring and loving dental team. We are here to help you in any way we can!
